A Shopify Plus migration is one of two jobs, and they have little in common. If your store is already on Shopify, you start from a plan change. If it is on another platform, you are moving the whole store and then building the Plus work on top. Two jobs, two budgets, two kinds of provider, one name. Work out which one you have before you read a quote.
We are noprob agency and we sell the Shopify Launch Sprint, a migration to Shopify at a public price. Everything here about Shopify’s plan, contract and features comes from Shopify’s own pages, linked and read on 4 November 2026. You will find the two routes, where checkout customization stands today, what is really Plus only, and the three bills. The method for the move itself is in our Shopify migration guide. Whether Plus is right for you at all is in Shopify Plus: when it pays off.
Already on Shopify: is upgrading to Shopify Plus a migration at all?
No. From Advanced, upgrading to Shopify Plus is a plan change, not a migration, and the features take effect immediately. Shopify’s article on the upgrade, updated on 23 September 2026, says a business can move from Advanced to Plus "without rebuilding its existing store": you select Plus under Settings > Plan. So if someone quotes you a "migration" from Advanced to Plus, ask what exactly is being moved.
Note that the sentence is about Advanced. On Basic or Grow you also manage the plan from Settings > Plan, but "without rebuilding" is written for Advanced: ask Shopify what applies to your store.
The same article has the line that matters more: "The upgrade unlocks access to Plus features, but it doesn’t configure them." Shopify lists what is left to do, area by area:
- Expansion stores: create them and license them.
- Checkout: build or install the extensions.
- Launchpad: install it.
- Users and groups: set them up.
- B2B: create the catalogs.
- Testing: create the staging stores and turn on test drives.
- Integrations: update them.
And the sentence to keep for the budget: "A new theme, custom checkout, or expansion store is a separate project." Apps need their own check, one by one, because Shopify "does not publish a single compatibility list".
Before you commit you can try it, with a paid trial for eligible merchants, lasting 1 to 2 months at $399, €384 or £344 a month. B2B works only on a mixed storefront during the trial, and other limits are in the FAQ below. Read this before you start: "If you take no action by the end of your trial, then your store is automatically enrolled in a full Plus plan." The day you start the trial, put the end date in the calendar with a name next to it.
Coming from another platform: what does it take to replatform to Shopify Plus?
Two projects in one: the migration to Shopify, then the Plus work on top of it. The migration is the same job on any plan, so we do not repeat it here. The steps are in our migration guide and our SEO checklist, the URLs in 301 redirects on Shopify, the platform specifics in Magento to Shopify and WooCommerce to Shopify.
I work conservatively here: first a pure migration, from A to B, with no drastic changes. It is not a redesign: I take what already works and move it. The redesign can come later, with a designer.
What is specific to Plus sits in Shopify’s Plus launch checklist, which few guides read closely. Its import order is products, customers, historical orders, gift cards, B2B, then other data. Four details from it save you a bad launch week:
- New-order notifications. Imported orders trigger them. Turn them off in Settings > Notifications or through Plus Support before you import, or they fire for every order you bring across.
- Gift cards. Move them right before launch, because they cannot be edited or deleted. Move them earlier and the balances keep changing on the old store while the new one stands still.
- Orders. Import at least the ones inside your return window. Shopify recommends going further: "import orders from the past 2-5 years".
- B2B. Companies and locations go in by hand or in bulk "using Matrixify, a third-party app"; catalogs by hand or via CSV.
What happens to your checkout when you migrate to Shopify Plus?
Plus does not give you checkout.liquid: it is unsupported on the information, shipping and payment steps, and custom checkout work now lives in extensions, Functions and apps. This is the part of a Plus project that has changed most, and some guides still get it wrong. Here are the dates from Shopify’s own pages.
- Information, shipping and payment steps: checkout.liquid "is now unsupported".
- 28 August 2025: checkout.liquid and additional scripts were sunset for the Thank you and Order status pages. Script tags on those pages ended the same day for Plus stores.
- 30 June 2026: Shopify Scripts was deprecated. The Scripts customizations report in Apps > Script Editor tells you what to recreate, with apps based on Functions or with your own Functions.
- 26 August 2026: the deadline to upgrade the Thank you and Order status pages; stores that had not done it were upgraded automatically. Script tags on those pages ended that day for non-Plus stores.
What stays exclusive to Plus is the steps themselves: Checkout UI extensions for the information, shipping and payment steps "are available only to stores on a Shopify Plus plan". From Basic up you get the checkout editor and apps on Thank you and Order status. Here is where each old behavior goes.
| What you had on the old store | Where it goes now | Which plan |
|---|---|---|
| A field, banner or other content on the information, shipping or payment step | A Checkout UI extension, from an app or built for you | Plus only on those steps |
| Content or tracking scripts on the Thank you or Order status page | Blocks and web pixels | From Basic up |
| A script in Script Editor | What the Scripts customizations report lists: an app with Functions, or your own Function | Public apps on any plan, custom apps on Plus only |
| A custom rule on the old platform (shipping, payment, discount) | A Shopify Function, in a public app or a custom one | Public apps on any plan, custom apps on Plus only |
| A change to the lines in the cart | The Cart Transform Function | lineUpdate and update operations: Plus and development stores only |
| A custom look for the checkout | The checkout editor, then the Checkout Branding API | Editor from Basic up, API on Plus only |
| Different checkouts for wholesale and retail | Separate B2B and D2C checkout flows in one store | Plus |
Start from your list, not from the table. Write each behavior of the old checkout on one line, with the reason it exists: "above a given weight the order stops and the buyer asks for a quote". Then ask whether it still earns its place. What survives goes into the table, and that list is the real scope of your Plus work.
What is really Plus only, and what is the catch with each feature?
Four things are Plus only in a way that changes a project: part of B2B, expansion stores, custom apps with Functions and Launchpad. Each one has a condition worth knowing before you sign. The full list is on the Plus plan page.
| Feature | What it gives you | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| B2B, the Plus-only part | Catalogs assigned directly to a company or location, deposit requirements, partial payments and payment requests per fulfillment. Unlimited catalog assignments on active B2B markets. | B2B itself runs on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, with 3 catalog assignments on the standard plans. Check Shopify’s plan table first: you may not need Plus for it. |
| Expansion stores | Up to 10 stores on one contract at no extra cost: 1 main store plus 9 expansion stores. Staging stores do not count. | Each store is independent: settings, products, collections and inventory do not sync by default. One Shopify theme license per store, apps billed per store. Importing Shopify themes, products, collections and files from another store works only at creation. They must extend the main brand, with the same name, branding, goods and services; otherwise look at a multi-brand agreement, with one Plus subscription per brand. |
| Custom apps with Functions | Your own backend logic: "Only stores on a Shopify Plus plan can use custom apps that contain Shopify Function APIs." | Stores on any plan can use public apps that contain functions. You need Plus here only when no public app does the job, and then someone has to build and maintain yours. |
| Launchpad | Schedules sales, product drops and restocks: prices at start and end, product release, inventory, Shopify theme and creative, password protection. | It is an app you install, and the upgrade does not set it up. It runs the calendar you give it. |
One item to settle in the contract. The expansion store page says "Only stores billed in USD or INR can be added to a Plus agreement", while the plan page also shows Plus prices in euros and pounds. If you plan expansion stores and you pay in another currency, have the billing currency confirmed in the contract.
How much does a Shopify Plus migration cost?
Three separate bills: the Shopify plan, the migration work and the Plus work on top. Keep them apart, because a quote that mixes them cannot be compared with anything. Every figure here has a source you can open. That is why you will not find a market range: the ones circulating online come without a source. After the three bills, the contract gets its own space: it is not a fourth bill, it decides how long you pay the first one.
The plan, paid to Shopify
These are the monthly prices on Shopify’s Plus plan page, read on 4 November 2026. Prices change, so open the page the day you decide.
| Currency | 1-year term | 3-year term |
|---|---|---|
| Euro | €2,250 | €2,100 |
| US dollar | $2,500 | $2,300 |
| British pound | £1,950 | £1,800 |
They apply "for standard setups and integrations". For more complex businesses with more volume "there might be a variable platform fee", based on revenue and business model and different for B2B and D2C. The same page names other possible costs: Shopify Plus Partners, a one-time Shopify theme purchase and third-party apps.
The migration, paid to whoever moves the store
From Advanced to Plus there is no migration bill, because the store stays where it is. From another platform, ours is public: the Shopify Launch Sprint costs €5,800 under €2M in revenue, €8,800 between €2M and €20M and €12,800 above €20M, VAT excluded, in 4 installments. To read other people’s quotes, our article on Shopify migration cost has the eight lines to look for.
The Plus work on top
Extensions, Functions, B2B setup, expansion stores. This bill is defined project by project, starting from the list you wrote for the checkout, so ask for a price against each line of that list. A single total tells you little.
Apart from the bills: the contract
Plus runs on a term of 1 or 3 years, and Shopify’s pricing page says "you can cancel when your term commitment expires". Renewal and downgrade, if you are eligible, are done from the admin and take effect on the renewal date, not immediately. And "You can’t cancel your Shopify Plus agreement from the Shopify admin": that goes through your Customer Success Manager or Plus Support. Read currency, term and fees before you sign.
Upgrade to Plus first, or migrate first?
Plus first, only if its features are part of launch day; otherwise migrate first and upgrade when a limit costs you something you can name. From Advanced, the later upgrade is a plan change, not a second migration. Shopify Plus: when it pays off covers the decision in full.
What do Shopify Plus migration services look like with us?
We move the store with the Shopify Launch Sprint: 14 days to a store ready to publish, go-live between day 15 and day 30, 90 days of support, 4 written guarantees and a public price by revenue. The Sprint is built with our Custom AI System for stores coming from another platform. Already on Shopify and want help with the Plus work? Write to us.
- Price: €5,800 under €2M in revenue, €8,800 between €2M and €20M, €12,800 above €20M, VAT excluded, in 4 installments.
- The Sprint covers the move to Shopify: your store replicated 1:1, data, apps and integrations, redirects, tracking and QA. Plus-specific builds (checkout, B2B, expansion stores) are scoped separately with you on a video call before you sign: what they cover.
- The Shopify plan, Plus included, is paid directly to Shopify.
- Two of the four guarantees, word for word: "Store ready on day 14 or we refund the first installment." and "Checkout converting less than before at 90 days? We optimize it for free until it beats it."
We start from your product and from the hardest part of your store, not from the platform. When a request is unusual, we replicate that part on a development store to show it can be done. Then accesses, exports, 14 days. You see the store ready, you confirm it, we switch. Most of a migration can be foreseen, and what comes up along the way is the job. Among our published case studies are Integratori DTC Nazzi, from WooCommerce, and Cumini, from a proprietary platform tied to the ERP. To compare providers, our guide to choosing a Shopify migration agency has the questions to ask.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Shopify Plus Partner to migrate?
No, a Partner is one option. Shopify’s migration guide lists Partners next to copy and paste, CSV files, apps and custom API work, and its Plus plan page counts Shopify Plus Partners among the possible extra costs. What you need is someone who can show you the work on checkout, data and redirects.
How long does it take to go from Advanced to Plus?
The plan change itself is immediate: Shopify says the new plan’s features take effect immediately once you select Plus under Settings > Plan. The time goes into what comes around it: the quote, the contract and the features you then have to configure, which depend on your list.
Does upgrading to Shopify Plus affect SEO?
Shopify’s upgrade article does not cover SEO, so this is our judgment: a plan change on its own is not a site move, because Shopify describes the step from Advanced as a plan change without rebuilding the store. The risk comes back when the same project changes the Shopify theme or the URLs. If URLs change, Google’s site move guide applies.
What happened to Shopify Scripts?
Shopify Scripts was deprecated on 30 June 2026. The Scripts customizations report in Apps > Script Editor tells you what to recreate, and you recreate it with apps based on Functions or with your own Functions. Custom apps with Functions need Plus.
Can I try Shopify Plus before I commit?
Yes, if you are eligible, with a paid trial of 1 to 2 months at $399, €384 or £344 a month. It leaves out expansion stores, unlimited staging stores, organization settings, Test Drive and bot protection. If you take no action by the end, your store is automatically enrolled in a full Plus plan.
Is there a minimum revenue for Shopify Plus?
Shopify publishes none. Sales looks at volume, payment setup and operational needs before giving you the exact price, and a variable platform fee may apply to more complex businesses.
Next step. Coming from another platform? Send us your store: apply to the Shopify Launch Sprint and we reply within 48 hours with your tier, the price and the first available kickoff date.
The Shopify Launch Sprint moves your store to Shopify in 14 days with our Custom AI System: a fixed calendar, a public price and 4 written guarantees.
